  7. Today – fixer uppers are being scooped up in cash deals in most markets across the country (most markets as in the markets where the majority of people live). The little FHA borrower doesn't even stand a chance following these suggestions TODAY. The reason why people weren't talking about these strategies 8-10 years ago, was because they were all buying up all of the spoils. Now, after people have scooped up what they needed, they are comfortable coming out and talking about their individual strategies.   8. The key to all of these stories on bigger pockets? "I started on the investing side of real estate during the housing crash". If you're just starting now – you're scraping to find deals. The spoils were there for the taking from 2008-2012. It was so good back then, it was almost like the gold rush of the 1800's when you could just dig a trench and find gold.
